Happy Birthday!

I made this card, for someone special, using the ever-so-colorful Dream Pop paper packet and incorporated one of our (Close To My Heart's) special new "M-size" stamp sets that will be released in just a few days!  These li'l guys are one of my favorite new products in the idea book and I am sure you will see me making quite a few greeting cards using them.  You cannot beat their price of just $2.95!

The idea for the card design came from the Fusion Card Challenge.  I always enjoy trying out a new pattern and like the twist I put on the sketch.
Here is a close-up of the focal point with a few pieces of retired bling to spice it up a bit.
Praying your week gets off to a phenomenal start!

Convention 2013

I am blessed and thankful to have been able to attend yet another enjoyable Close To My Heart Convention.  It took place in Orlando (well, technically in Buena Vista) at the Coronado Springs Resort Hotel on Disney property.  It was a blast and here are just a few highlights from our time there a month ago.

This is a view of the primary buildings on the resort as taken on the other side of the pond (close to the swimming pool area).
We can always count on some good entertainment during our Opening Session, especially when hosted by Disney.
These are the Three Amigos (a.k.a. our three Vice-Presidents).  They have become quite the actors over the years and they are always a hoot to watch.  It is during this Opening Session that new products are released and the session always ends with us getting an exclusive convention bag with a copy of the NEW Idea Book inside.
One of the fun things about Convention is getting together with team members from all across the U.S.  We have fun exchanging gifts and this year my Mom made all of us these cute flowers for our hair.  This year's convention theme was "Viva!" so they were perfect for the occasion.  We joined on the night before convention for a little team get-together and then headed to Downtown Disney for some play time!  Here are photos of the group that joined for dinner.

April, Kimberly & Dilia
Lisa, Maria Elena (my Mom) & Richard (my Dad)
Karah & Kristi
Me, Debi & Karen
We all posed for a group picture before heading to Downtown Disney.
We were taking the photo when the lights went out in the bus so Kristi made for a great photo opp in being silly!
You know...as scrapbookers...we are all about the photo opportunities!  This was in front of a t-shirt shop.  Could you have guessed?
My Mom, Lulu & Michelle enjoying the sites and scenes of Downtown Disney.

Me, Tawnya, Debi, Michelle & Lulu

I sure had a blast but miss my girls terribly!  There is no lack of fun when we are together!

Ready to scrap the day away and still praying for some more rain today (and thunder and lightning...in a safe way).  ENJOY YOUR DAY!

Teacher Appreciation - Post-It Note Holder

Several teachers and educational assistants are already hard at work this summer and I wanted to do a little something for them, to show my appreciation for their time and efforts.

I had settled on making a post-it note holder using a pattern I had already done before, but in searching the web found this easel-type holder and I decided to give it a try.  It was super easy to assemble and I think the teachers will enjoy them.
 This is the side view.
Another variation, minus the floral pattern of B&T, for the males.
I found the directions for this holder here but when I first cut the paper, I realized it was for the small post-it note holders and I wanted something bigger for the regular size post-its.  I modified the directions and here they are:

  1. Cut a sheet of cardstock 3.5 x 11".
  2. Score at 4.5", 6", and 7.5".
  3. Fold somewhat accordian style to create this look (see below).  (The larger piece should be on the bottom, where the sticky notes will be.)
  4. Adhere the piece with tape to the smaller of the two edges to create the easel.
  5. Place the sticky notes on the bottom portion to hold the easel in place and then decorate as you choose.

If you try this pattern out, I would love to see your design in decorating.

Have a blessed and wonderful week!

I'm Back and Going Strong!

It has been a while since I have posted to my blog.  I had quite a few events take place over the past two months including the end of the school year, getting a new job, my grandmother being ill and passing away, a vacation, Close To My Heart's convention, and reporting to my new job.  All excuses aside, I am here and moving forward with lots of fun new products and artwork to come your way so forgive me for my absence.

Some people have been asking about my new position.  I have been hired as the Principal of an elementary school and assumed that position last Tuesday, immediately upon returning from Convention.  It has been fast and furious, but good.  I am thankful to God for this opportunity and am looking forward to a great school year!

I intend to work on some papercrafting projects this weekend so in the meantime, here are a few photos from our vacation to Florida.

My husband and I celebrated our 15-year anniversary on June 20th and renewed our vows in St. Augustine, FL.  My brother-in-law is a Pastor and conducted the ceremony.

This photo was taken on Crescent Beach, FL (just south of St. Augustine).

We traveled from north Florida to Orlando, via Highway 1, along the east coast, and made several stops along the way.  We enjoyed some delicious seafood at D.J. Deck's in Port Orange, just south of Daytona Beach.

We enjoyed several days of fun at the Coronado Springs Resort, on Disney property, in Lake Buena Vista (just outside of Orlando).

It was a FABULOUS vacation (as I anticipated the start of Convention - more to come on that, too) and it came at a great time!  It truly could not have been any better!

I am looking forward to sharing a lot more "stuff" with you!  Stay tuned and enjoy the end to your week!

"Art with an Attitude" Blog Hop

I am thrilled to be a team member of "Stampers with an Attitude", through Close To My Heart, and was invited to participate in a blog hop with fellow teammates.  There's no better way to cap off Cinco de Mayo than with some inspiring artwork made with Close To My Heart products.

If you are coming from Angela's Craft Closet, you are on the right track!  The hop is one big circle so keep "hoppin" along to see some fabulous creations.

I am sharing two items that I have recently created, both using the fabulous and ever-so-popular "Dream Pop" paper packet.  If you know me very well, you know I like bright, cheery and summer-like colors so this paper packet is right up my alley!  It is an exclusive paper pack available only through the end of May (or while supplies last) through Close To My Heart.

This first creation is our My Creations Kraft Container which measures 5 3/4" x 3" - much bigger than I imagined - and is perfect for filling with any type of goodie.  In fact, it is it tall enough to fit your favorite pens and pencils.  (Another little thing about me...I am addicted to CUTE pens and pencils so it would be the perfect place to "hide" them so nobody else uses them.  LOL  Did I just say that?)
I'm also addicted to this fabulous flower pattern made from our exclusive Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge.  I started at size 1 3/4" and reduced it in size, two times, by 1/4".  A little bling and some glitter and it makes for a cute container!  Oh!  I also love the saying that I used which is contained on one of the sheets of paper, "Do what you love and love what you do."  That describes me to a "C" (lol) in regards to Close To My Heart that is.

My second creation is this greet card.  The flowers and scallop trim were also cut with our Cricut Cartridge but this time with Artiste.  (Currently we have two exclusive Cricut Cartridges.)
Thanks for taking the time to stop by.  I would love for you to leave a comment if you feel led to do so.  Now, "hop" on over to Scrapper's Therapy where you will find some fun artwork by Amber.

And a HUGE THANK YOU to Melinda Everitt for coordinating this swap!

Enjoy a wonderful week!

Just living isn't enough...

This is a fabulous quote from Hans Christian Andersen, "Just living is not enough...one must have sunshine, freedom and a little flower."  So I thought it was perfectly fitting to incorporate this fun flower image from the "Girls Rock" stamp set.  (It is one I have used several times in recent posts.)  It's just plain fun!
One of the paper patterns I like from the Claire paper packet, and you would never believe it, is the denim-like one where the flower is situated.  I just like its' appeal when I pair it with Outdoor Denim cardstock.  These colors were fun to work with.

I hope you can enjoy some spring-like weather in your neck of the woods today.  Have a beautiful Saturday!

Yeehaw!

This card, made with the Clementine paper packet, was made for a friend's birthday.  The paper packet offers a soft and "country" appeal and is fun to work with.
Before you inquire about the stamp set used, I must disappoint you in sharing it was one of the stamp sets we, Consultants, received at last year's Convention.  It was perfect for the occasion since the event was held in  Dallas, TX.  (This is just one of the perks of being a Consultant with Close To My Heart.)

A few square studs later, and foam tape to add dimension to the boots and sentiment, I felt it was complete.

Praying your enjoying your week and the cold front that moved in today,

Happy National Scrapbooking Month!

Is it hard for you to believe that it is already May 1st?  In looking at the calendar last week, I found myself caught off-guard with that realization.  This school year has sure flown by.  (That tends to be how I measure a year. LOL)

If you caught my blog post on April 26, you saw that we have a fun paper pack that is debuting today!  It is called "Dream Pop" and the colors and fun patterns are sure to "pop" out at you!  With just a $35 order, it can be yours for just $10!  It's well worth those $10, let me tell ya!
I have already been playing with this paper packet and am looking forward to decorating several dimensional items I have in my studio.  (Those will be posted soon.)  But to start off this month, I wanted to share this card I made with some of the fun patterns in this paper packet.
The photos just do not do this paper packet justice.  You have got to see it in person.  And the texture on some of the sheets, like on the turquoise-shaded piece shown, are too fun!  The textures vary on several sheets of cardstock.

Check out my customer newsletter where you will find another card creation there.  If you would like to be added to my newsletter distribution list, please click here.  Complete the information and then let me know you did so in the comment section below.  I'll send you a fun card for doing so!

Wishing you all the best in May,
