Shake It Up - Heart 2 Heart Challenge

Welcome to this week's Heart 2 Heart Challenge, "Shake It Up!". You can interpret the theme as a shaker card or feel free to step outside the box and do otherwise. I love it when people do so.

To participate in this challenge, visit the Heart 2 Heart Blog and connect your artwork with the link at the bottom of the related post. Be sure to incorporate some Close To My Heart products in your creation.

With the artwork I am sharing today, I am showcasing a card I totally CASEd (aka Copied and Stole Everything) from the Close To My Heart Idea Book.

This adorable Hedgehug stamp set totally got my attention, as did the card, when I first saw it. I couldn't help but recreate it. THIS STAMP SET RETIRES ON DECEMBER 31ST! GET IT WHILE YOU STILL CAN!

I especially enjoyed making my own confetti that was easy to create using the Thin Cuts - Shaker Window & Confetti die cuts.

Shaker cards are totally fun and I'm looking forward to creating more! It helps that it's made super easy with the products we have available to support them!

Let's see how you "Shake It Up" this week, and through the end of this month. Head on over to Heart 2 Heart and join the challenge! I look forward to seeing you there!

Sugarplum, Sapphire and Sage Heart 2 Heart Color Challenge

Happy Monday! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and an enjoyable holiday weekend!

Consider joining us for this week's Heart To Heart Challenge where you can create any artwork associated with our theme, while incorporating at least some product from Close to My Heart.

This week's challenge is a color challenge where you are asked to incorporate the Close To My Heart Colors of Sage, Sapphire, and Sugarplum (pictured in order below).

You can also choose to use any of the neutral colors, if necessary.

Here is the card I created for this challenge:

The patterned paper is from our Season Mix-Ins suite. It is how I chose to pull in the Sapphire color. Sugarplum Glitter Paper was the perfect addition, with a touch of Sage.
I LOVE this Hedge-hugs stamp set and yet, have only made a few pieces of artwork using it. I need to get busy! It has quite a few adorable images that are great for many things, like texturing your paper.

On the White Daisy background, behind the hedgehog, I stamped the heart image in Sugarplum. Without it, the White Daisy was a bit too much. Adding the texture softened it a bit and I feel, added a bit of a touch.

I added Liquid Glass to the heart for a little sparkle.

I realized, as I was writing this post, that I had also created this Shaker Card using the color combination. It was totally copied from our Holiday Expressions Idea Book. (The first person to read this post AND locate what page this card is featured in the Idea Book will be contacted for their mailing address to be sent a goodie. Will it be you?!)

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Be sure to check out the Heart 2 Heart Challenge and link up to the respective post. We've got challenges that have been taking place all month. I look forward to seeing yours there!

Have a blessed week!

In Any CASE...with Melinda & Melissa

Thank you for joining us this week for...

Join us twice a month as we CASE, “Copy And Selectively Edit”, artwork created by the Art Department of Close To My Heart as showcased in the current Idea Books and our Make It From Your Heart How-To Books.

On the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month, at 7 pm CST, we will direct you towards a piece of art and recreate it using the exact products or others that compliment its initial design. Tips, techniques and assembly directions will be shared in detail to help you recreate them on your own.

As you reproduce the items we have shared, post them on social media using the hashtag #ctmhinanycase. We will randomly search that hashtag and reward those who CASE our items. Winners will be announced on our blogs so be sure to follow us!

I decided to recreate this adorable shaker card that features the CA-UTE stamp set, Hedge-Hugs.
I mean, serious?! Isn't this stamp set adorable?! Now that I have it, I am totally looking forward to creating some other items with it. Do you love it too? You can find it on my website by clicking on this link.

To create any Shaker Card, the Thin Cuts - Shaker Window & Confetti are an ABSOLUTE MUST! You can create shaker cards using your choice of colors, themes, etc. and these make that super easy to achieve!

These are the pieces and parts (above) I cut to create the card. You'll see how they are incorporated below and...YES! I totally did make my own confetti out of Sugarplum Glitter Paper! FUN stuff, huh?!

For the main base of the card, I used this polka dot patterned paper from the Seasons Mix-in paper packet. I put the big circle, cut out of White Daisy, as the bottom piece for the shaker card elements. Then, I built the rest on top of it.

I combined the Loose Silver Sequins with the Thin Cut punched confetti. The stitched circle, that finishes off the shaker piece was cut in Sage cardstock.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I am starting to have an attraction to the Silver Embellishing Thread. LOL When I first tried it, I wasn't quite sure how to work with it but have been given some tips to assist me:
  • Wind it around two of your fingers, approximately 5 times.
  • Use glue dots to adhere it to and to secure it to your artwork.
If you haven't tried it yet, give it a try. I think you will like it just as much as I do. As you can see, I have been adding it to my projects when they need "just a bit more".

My partner in CASEing, Melinda Everitt, is showcasing THIS creation on her blog so be sure to head that direction by following this link. I guess we are both lovin' the Shaker Cards based on what cards we selected this week!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Happy creating!
